1. Device and app record
The reviewer records the device model, operating-system build, VPN app version, account tier, protocol, connection type, test location, server location and UTC test window. Screenshots must show the tested interface without exposing account or network secrets.
2. Speed and connection method
The reviewer measures an unprotected baseline and the VPN connection in the same environment. Each selected route receives at least five repeated runs. We report the median and retain the individual readings so variance and outliers remain visible.
A result is not generalized beyond the tested device, route and time window. Home-network congestion, server load, distance, Wi-Fi conditions and the measurement service can all change the outcome.
3. Privacy and failure checks
DNS and WebRTC exposure checks, public IPv4/IPv6 checks and kill-switch behaviour are recorded with the exact tool URL, date and screenshots in the evidence log. A reviewer verifies behaviour during a manual disconnect and reconnect instead of inferring protection from the presence of a settings toggle.
4. Streaming and everyday use
A streaming observation records the service, account region, device, app or browser, server region, playback result and date. Access can change after publication and is never described as guaranteed. Everyday checks cover installation, sign-in, connection recovery, settings clarity and support documentation relevant to the stated use case.
5. Sources, scoring and review
Pricing, ownership, policies, audits and feature availability are checked against current primary sources where possible. A numeric score may be published only when its inputs and weighting are documented. Material commercial content requires a human editorial review before publication.
6. Updates and retesting
Review dates show when the evidence was last checked. We revisit material claims when an app, policy, ownership record, price or audit changes. A changed result replaces the old result only after the new environment and evidence are recorded; it is not silently generalized to devices or locations we did not retest.
7. Editorial and commercial separation
Affiliate eligibility is checked after the evidence record and user need are established. A commercial relationship cannot turn provider documentation into a first-hand result, remove a relevant limitation or guarantee a recommendation. Explicit offer links are labelled and governed by the affiliate disclosure.
Limitations
QuickVPNs cannot reproduce every country, device, ISP or account condition. Provider software and offers change. Tests are point-in-time observations, not guarantees. Missing evidence is reported as a gap rather than replaced with an estimate.
